March 26, 2018
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the first six teams that will be a part of the inaugural group of teams that will make up the new NAHL Prep league for the 2018-19 season. NAHL Prep joins the long line of successful leagues and properties under the NAHL umbrella, which includes the NAPHL, NA3HL, Combines, and Future Prospects Tournaments.
The first six teams for NAHL Prep are follows (alphabetical):
Fountain Valley School (Colorado Springs, CO)
Gentry Academy (Vadnais Heights, MN)
NorthStar Christian Academy (Alexandria, MN)
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (Pilot Mound, MB)
St. Rita of Cascia School (Chicago, IL)
Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy (Lake Tahoe, CA)
The NAHL is expected to name some additional teams to NAHL Prep in the upcoming weeks. To learn more about NAHL Prep and for application to the league, visit: http://nahlprep.com/
NAHL Prep teams will compete in three high-profile showcases during the 2018-19 season that are strategically timed to maximize scouting exposure and minimize days missed from school. Each event will also be in cooperation and partnership with events that feature teams from other leagues under the NAHL umbrella.
Tony Zasowski, the director of player personnel for the NAHL and the director of the North American Prospects Hockey League, is overseeing the new prep league, and is happy to be taking the next steps towards the launch.
“We received a very positive initial response to our launch of NAHL Prep and through an extensive selection process, we are very happy to have our first six teams announced with more set to be announced in the next few weeks,” Zasowski said. “The league is a great avenue for high school, academy and prep teams from all over the country, as it gives them three events with roughly 12 games against some terrific competition. Most of all about it about exposure and advancement for these players, as we are giving scouts a whole new talent pool to evaluate from.”
NAHL Prep is driven by the NAHL and operated by the NAHL professional staff in order to serve the most valuable asset to hockey, the players. The intent and goal is to provide the aspiring hockey player an opportunity while participating in the NAHL Prep to take part in a one-of-a-kind experience that is designed to maximize exposure at grand-scale events. All games will be broadcast live on HockeyTV and league statistics will be tracked through LeagueStat.
One of the big advantages of playing in the NAHL Prep is the exclusive NAHL Central Scouting system. It is one of the big reasons that the other family of leagues is advancing more and more players on to the NAHL than ever before are the direct benefits associated being directly involved with one another, which includes NAHL Central Scouting. NAHL Central Scouting will be dedicated to finding NAHL Prep hockey players, evaluating them in a true unbiased manner and then organizing and providing that information to NAHL teams. No other league in the United States has a system like it, where its primary mission is the advancement of players.
